A Fragile Dream

Trust… it is what any relationship is built upon. A relationship begins with sheer faith. Simple faith.
In what? Each other. And that faith is the other will not hurt you. Like I said. Rather simple. Wouldn’t you agree?
Whether the relationship is personal or professional matters not, all begin the same— around this concept. When it is betrayed… broken… the relationship crumbles— forever changed.
How may the hurt happen? Lots of different ways. Some big, others small. Many in the open for the world to see. Then again, try hidden in the shadows or behind closed doors.
Friends family, teachers, doctors, or lawyers, you expect the same from all. You TRUST them all— have FAITH that they ALL will not
1. DELIBERATELY HURT YOU
2. INTENTIONALLY LIE TO YOU
3. HORRIBLY BETRAY YOU
4. VICIOUSLY DESTROY YOU
5. CUNNINGLY STAB YOU
And then they profess they will save you in the next breath?
Relationship is about TRUST — FAITH
RARE DISEASE CHRONIC PAIN HEALTHCARE
Only this is exactly the TRUST that is found in any relationships and so very fragile. It is also the TRUST which the Rare Disease Community (who suffer with Severe Pain and need to take opiates chronically to have a semblance of any quality of life) rarely finds because it is destroyed on a regular basis by the supposition, assumption, and accusation by the stereotyping of the opioid drug culture created by the DEA.

We as Rare Disease chronic pain patients, many disabled, are condemned as addicted, drug dealing criminals by unknown doctors at ERs, new clinics, pharmacists, and nurses simply because of our diagnoses and chronic need for opiates outside of the CDC guidelines. That is a criminal fact in itself.
The reality is that the relationship in these situations was flawed before it ever began— trust? What trust? We approach our “new” providers in faith. The “new” providers choose to see us with suspicion and condemnation. Why? Because they only know and see one thing—opiates.
And that is simple DISCRIMINATION.
We are more than the medication we need to take or the diseases we have that require it. We are American citizens who are trying to live our lives the best we can. We have a right to do that.
Stop condemning us for something we have no control over.
Help stop the assault on Chronic Pain Patients in the USA,
In Christ,
